Security Bulletin

This security bulletin contains information about 3 vulnerabilities.

1) OS Command Injection

EUVDB-ID: #VU89615

Risk: High

CVSSv3.1: 8.5 [CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H/E:U/RL:O/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2022-25912

CWE-ID: CWE-78 - Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an OS Command ('OS Command Injection')

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary shell commands on the target system.

The vulnerability exists when enabling the ext transport protocol, which makes it exploitable via clone() method. A remote unauthenticated attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application and execute arbitrary OS commands on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

Mitigation

Install update from vendor's website.

Vulnerable software versions

Storage Ceph: before 7.1

Q & A

Can this vulnerability be exploited remotely?

Yes. This vulnerability can be exploited by a remote non-authenticated attacker via the Internet.

Is there known malware, which exploits this vulnerability?

No. We are not aware of malware exploiting this vulnerability.

2) Input validation error

EUVDB-ID: #VU97701

Risk: High

CVSSv3.1: 8.5 [CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H/E:U/RL:O/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2022-25860

CWE-ID: CWE-20 - Improper input validation

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute remote code on the system.

The vulnerability exists due to improper input sanitization. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted input to the application and execute remote code on the system using the clone(), pull(), push() and listRemote() methods.

Mitigation

Install update from vendor's website.

Vulnerable software versions

Storage Ceph: before 7.1

No. We are not aware of malware exploiting this vulnerability.

3) Command Injection

EUVDB-ID: #VU89655

Risk: Low

CVSSv3.1: 6.1 [CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H/E:U/RL:O/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2022-25908

CWE-ID: CWE-77 - Command injection

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a local user to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation by the devInstall function. A local user can send a specially-crafted request to exploit this vulnerability and execute arbitrary commands on the system.

Mitigation

Install update from vendor's website.

Vulnerable software versions

Storage Ceph: before 7.1

CPE2.3 External links

Q & A

Can this vulnerability be exploited remotely?

No. This vulnerability can be exploited locally. The attacker should have authentication credentials and successfully authenticate on the system.

Is there known malware, which exploits this vulnerability?

No. We are not aware of malware exploiting this vulnerability.
