Honeywell, a manufacturer of security and automation solutions for commercial applications, said it recently detected a “malware incident” that disrupted some of its IT systems.
“We promptly took steps to address the incident, including partnering with Microsoft to assess and remediate the situation. Our systems have since been secured, we identified the point of entry, and all unauthorized access has been revoked. We have also notified law enforcement,” the company said in a messageon its website.
Although the investigation is still ongoing, the company says there is no evidence that the intruders stole data from its primary systems that store customer information.
Honeywell said it had “returned to service” following the incident, but did not provide further details on what kind of malware was involved in the attack and who was responsible.
“We have returned to service and are firmly focused on running our operations and serving our customers. Security is a top priority at Honeywell, and we are committed to taking all appropriate measures to ensure the highest integrity of our systems,” Honeywell said.
