Game companies Ubisoft and Take-Two suspend sales in Russia

Video game companies continue to boycott Russia. From the beginning of the invasion, many major gaming companies ended their business operations in Russia, including Activision Blizzard, Epic Games, Microsoft, EA, and CD Projekt. Sony removed Gran Turismo 7 from its Russian online market, and Nintendo halted Switch eShop payments.

Now Ubisoft and Take-Two suspended business in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Ubisoft expressed support for Ukraine and its team members based there in a blog post.

Take-Two has stopped sales of games and ended marketing support in Russia and Belarus. Moreover, the company is also preventing people in these two countries from installing its games, including the third-most-popular game in Russia, Grand Theft Auto V.

Other tech giants, such as Google, Netflix, TikTok, PayPal, Adobe, Meta, and Cogent Communications, an internet backbone provider that routes data across intercontinental connections, have suspended or restricted their services and sales in Russia. In a letter to Russian customers, Cogent cited “economic sanctions” and “the increasingly uncertain security situation” as the motives behind its total shutdown in the country. Cogent terminated its contracts with Russian customers in compliance with European Union’s move to ban Russian state-backed media outlets, as was first reported by The Washington Post.

Samsung has stopped shipping products to the country, while Apple has suspended all sales there.

Another video game company, Riot Games, announced it will provide aid during the ongoing war in Ukraine. Until March 12th, the studio will donate all proceeds from the sale of Valorant, Legends of Runterra, Teamfight Tactics, and Wild Rift battle passes to support humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine. Riot will also donate $1 million out of pocket to Doctors Without Borders, the Polish Red Cross, and the International Medical Corps.

"All proceeds from both Riot’s donation and the player fundraiser will directly support humanitarian relief in Ukraine and other affected areas," the company said.

Cybersecurity Help’s statement on the critical situation in Ukraine

On February 24, people in many cities and towns across Ukraine woke up to the sounds of explosions and artillery fire, as the Russian Federation launched a full-scale invasion of the country. Such actions are unacceptable, the political ambitions of any man aren’t worthy of blood, tears, and destruction of millions of lives. We give our full support to the Ukrainian people in these hard times. No more war!
