Qualcomm stops selling products to Russia

Qualcomm, the world's largest smartphone chipmaker, has stopped selling its products to Russian companies in compliance with sanctions that the US imposed on Russia over its invasion of Ukraine.

The company's decision was disclosed in a tweet that its senior vice president of government affairs, Nate Tibbits, posted as a reply to a comment by Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.

Urging Tibbits to stop supplies to Russia, Fedorov said Qualcomm products are still available in Russia and it “inadvertently enables this country to kill thousands of Ukrainians.”

“This is incorrect. Qualcomm has called for a peaceful resolution to Russia's aggression in Ukraine, made direct donations to relief organizations & match employee contributions. We comply with U.S. sanctions & laws are not selling products to Russian companies,” Tibbits said.

Thanking the move, Fedorov subsequently suggested that the chipmaker can send its satellite phones for Ukrainian rescuers if it wants to help.

In related news, Xerox, one of the world's leading copier companies, has also stopped shipments to Russia.

“At the onset of the conflict, we stopped all shipments to Russia, and we are complying with all applicable government-issued sanctions. We continue to closely monitor events and will adapt our response accordingly. We hope for a quick restoration of peace,” the company said in a statement.

Cybersecurity Help’s statement on the critical situation in Ukraine

On February 24, people in many cities and towns across Ukraine woke up to the sounds of explosions and artillery fire, as the Russian Federation launched a full-scale invasion of the country. Such actions are unacceptable, political ambitions of any man aren’t worth of blood, tears, and destruction of millions of lives. We give our full support to the Ukrainian people in these hard times. No more war! Слава Україні!
