Wind turbine maker Nordex hit by cyberattack

Nordex Group, a Germany-based supplier of onshore wind turbine systems said it has suffered a security incident on March 31. As a precautionary measure, the company has shut down its IT systems across multiple locations and business units to contain the issue.

Nordex is one of the world's largest wind turbine manufacturers with offices and branches in more than 30 countries.

“On 31 March 2022 Nordex Group IT security detected that the company is subject to a cyber security incident. The intrusion was noted in an early stage and response measures initiated immediately in line with crisis management protocols,” the company explained in a short press release.

“The incident response team of internal and external security experts has been set up immediately in order to contain the issue and prevent further propagation and to assess the extent of potential exposure.”

Nordex has also added that customers, employees and other stakeholders might be affected by the shutdown of IT systems. The company did not disclose any information about the nature of the cyber incident it has suffered, or what damage it might have caused.
