Just weeks after a massive data breach at Australian mobile operator Optus, another Singtel’s unit, Dialog Group, has suffered a digital intrusion.
Dialog Group is an Australia-based IT services consulting company, which was acquired by Singapore Telecommunications (Singtel) subsidiary NCS in April 2022.
The company said it became aware of the breach on September 10, 2022, after it detected unauthorized access to its servers, which then were shut down as a preventive measure. At the time, an investigation found no evidence that any data was compromised. However, on October 7, 2022, the company learned that a small sample of its data was leaked on the dark web.
According to Dialog, the breach may have impacted 1,000 of current and former employees and less than 20 customers.
For its part, Singtel says that there is no evidence that there is any link between the Dialog security incident and the recent Optus breach.
