AMD investigates potential cyberattack following claims of data breach

Major semiconductor company AMD is investigating a potential cyberattack after a threat actor, known by the alias “IntelBroker,” claimed to have breached the AMD.com website. According to BleepingComputer, IntelBroker is selling data purportedly obtained from this breach, which allegedly occurred this month.

IntelBroker claims the stolen data includes sensitive information about AMD's future products, employee databases, and customer databases. The hacker has posted screenshots of some of the supposedly stolen AMD credentials but has not yet revealed the price for the data or the method used to obtain it.

In a post on a hacking forum, IntelBroker detailed the nature of the compromised data, listing future AMD products, spec sheets, employee and customer databases, property files, ROMs, source code, firmware, and financial documents.

DarkWebInformer also reported that the compromised employee database contains sensitive information, including user IDs, first and last names, job functions, business phone numbers, email addresses, and employment status.

AMD has confirmed that it is looking into the alleged theft. In a statement, the company said that it is aware of the reports and it is investigating the potential data breach.

IntelBroker is notorious for previous high-profile breaches. The hacker was responsible for the DC Health Link breach, which exposed personal data of US House of Representatives members and staff, leading to a congressional hearing. More recently, IntelBroker was behind the breach of the Europol Platform for Experts (EPE), a web portal used to share information among international law enforcement agencies.
