Argentina’s Airport Security Police (PSA) has has been hit with a sophisticated cyberattack that reportedly compromised the personal and financial data of its officers and civilian personnel.
According to local media’s report, the unidentified threat actor is believed to have gained access to PSA’s payroll records, exploiting a vulnerability in the systems of Banco Nación, the state-run bank responsible for processing the agency’s salaries.
The attackers allegedly deducted small amounts of money ranging from 2,000 to 5,000 pesos ($100 to $245) from employees' salaries under deceptive labels such as “DD mayor” and “DD seguros.”
Sources within the PSA suspect the operation may have involved internal accomplices or been orchestrated from abroad. However, neither the PSA nor Banco Nación has issued public statements addressing the breach.
