Hackers claim to hack Qatar National Bank

Hackers published a 500 MB .zip file (1,4 GB when unpacked) supposedly containing data, stolen from Qatar National Bank.

The files in archive are redacted and carefully prepared. The archive contains .csv, .xls and several .pdf files.

Text files contain mostly pieces of information about different transactions, account information, encoded/encrypted answers to secret questions, etc. According to dates in these files, the newest information is from December 2015, while the oldest is from 1980s.

The files could be debugging or informational logs of transactions but not the database itself. Due to big timeframe differences between records in the same file, given the size of the bank we suggest these files are either heavily redacted or fake.

.xls files are carefully prepared to show information about famous people from MI6 etc.

Some of the folders even contain pictures of account holders, their families and links to Facebook profiles.

We suggest waiting for an official investigation from Qatar National Bank to make any further claims. Meanwhile the Qatar National Bank posted a response to alleged hack.
