Description
This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: N/A)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system. The weakness exists due to buffer overflow in GlobalLink ActiveX control when handling values for the ServerList property. By persuading a victim to visit a malicious Web site that passes specially-crafted values to the insecure ServerList method, a remote attacker can trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system with privileges of the current user.
Successful exploitation of the vulnerability results in arbitrary code execution on the vulnerable system.
Note: the vulnerability was being actively exploited.
2) Stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: N/A)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system. The weakness exists due to stack-based buffer overflow in ActiveX control. By persuading a victim to visit a specially Web page that passes an overly long argument to the IEStart() method or a second argument to the IEStartNative() method, a remote attacker can trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system with privileges of the current user.
Successful exploitation of the vulnerability results in arbitrary code execution on the vulnerable system.
Note: the vulnerability was being actively exploited.
