Description
This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2008-5277)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted CH HINFO query to the server and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
2) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2008-3337)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform DNS cache poisoning.
PowerDNS Authoritative Server before 2.9.21.1 drops malformed queries, which might make it easier for remote attackers to poison DNS caches of other products running on other servers
