Description
This security bulletin contains information about 6 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2009-0193)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system. The weakness exists due to heap-based buffer overflow when processing a malformed JBIG2 symbol dictionary segment. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted .pdf file, trick the victim into opening it, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system with privileges of the current user.
Successful exploitation of the vulnerability results in arbitrary code execution on the vulnerable system.
2) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2009-0658)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system. The weakness exists due to buffer overflow when parsing a malformed JBIG2 image stream. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted .pdf file, trick the victim into opening it, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system with privileges of the current user.
Successful exploitation of the vulnerability results in arbitrary code execution on the vulnerable system.
Note: the vulnerability was being actively exploited.
3) Stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2009-0927)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system. The weakness exists due to stack-based buffer overflow in the getIcon() function.
4) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2009-0928)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system. The weakness exists due to heap-based buffer overflow when parsing a malformed JBIG2 image stream. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted .pdf file, trick the victim into opening it, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system with privileges of the current user.
Successful exploitation of the vulnerability results in arbitrary code execution on the vulnerable system.
5) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2009-1061)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system. The weakness exists due to heap-based buffer overflow when processing a malformed JBIG2 image with malicious input. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted .pdf file, trick the victim into opening it, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system with privileges of the current user.
Successful exploitation of the vulnerability results in arbitrary code execution on the vulnerable system.
6) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2009-1062)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system. The weakness exists due to heap-based buffer overflow when processing a malformed JBIG2 image with malicious input. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted .pdf file, trick the victim into opening it, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system with privileges of the current user.
Successful exploitation of the vulnerability results in arbitrary code execution on the vulnerable system.
