1) Cryptographic issues

EUVDB-ID: #VU32820

Risk: Medium

CVSSv4.0: 2.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Green]

CVE-ID: CVE-2012-0884

CWE-ID: CWE-310 - Cryptographic Issues

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to gain access to sensitive information.

The implementation of Cryptographic Message Syntax (CMS) and PKCS #7 in OpenSSL before 0.9.8u and 1.x before 1.0.0h does not properly restrict certain oracle behavior, which makes it easier for context-dependent attackers to decrypt data via a Million Message Attack (MMA) adaptive chosen ciphertext attack.

Mitigation

Install update from vendor's website.

Vulnerable software versions

OpenSSL: 0.9.0b - 1.0.0g
