Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 vulnerabilities.

1) Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls (CVE-ID: CVE-2011-4328)

CWE-ID: CWE-264 - Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls

CVSSv4: CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Green

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to gain access to sensitive information.

plugin/npapi/plugin.cpp in Gnash before 0.8.10 uses weak permissions (world readable) for cookie files with predictable names in /tmp, which allows local users to obtain sensitive information.

2) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2012-1175)

CWE-ID: CWE-122 - Heap-based Buffer Overflow

CVSSv4: CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:L/VI:L/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Green

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in Integer overflow in the GnashImage::size method in libbase/GnashImage.h in GNU Gnash 0.8.10. A remote attacker can use a crafted SWF file to trigger heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
