Description

This security bulletin contains information about 8 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Cross-site scripting (CVE-ID: CVE-2011-4278)

Vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform XSS attacks.

The vulnerability is caused by an input validation error in the tag autocomplete functionality in Moodle 1.9.x before 1.9.11 and 2.0.x before 2.0.2. A remote attacker can trick the victim to follow a specially crafted link and execute arbitrary HTML and script code in victim's browser in security context of vulnerable website.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to steal potentially sensitive information, change appearance of the web page, perform phishing and drive-by-download attacks.

2) Information disclosure (CVE-ID: CVE-2011-4279)

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to gain access to sensitive information.

Moodle 2.0.x before 2.0.2 does not use the forceloginforprofiles setting for course-profiles access control, which makes it easier for remote attackers to obtain potentially sensitive information via vectors involving use of a search engine, as demonstrated by the search functionality of Google, Yahoo!, Wrensoft Zoom, MSN, Yandex, and AltaVista.

3) Cross-site request forgery (CVE-ID: CVE-2011-4281)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform cross-site request forgery attacks.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of the HTTP request origin. A remote attacker can trick the victim to visit a specially crafted web page and perform arbitrary actions on behalf of the victim on the vulnerable website.

4) Cross-site scripting (CVE-ID: CVE-2011-4282)

Vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform Cross-site scripting attacks.

An input validation error exists in the course-tags functionality in tag/coursetags_more.php in Moodle 2.0.x before 2.0.2 when processing the (1) sort or (2) show parameter.

5) Information disclosure (CVE-ID: CVE-2011-4283)

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to gain access to sensitive information.

Moodle 1.9.x before 1.9.11 and 2.0.x before 2.0.2 places an IMS enterprise enrolment file in the course-files area, which allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information via a request for imsenterprise-enrol.xml.

6) Information disclosure (CVE-ID: CVE-2011-4284)

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to gain access to sensitive information.

Moodle 2.0.x before 2.0.2 allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information from a myprofile (aka My profile) block by visiting a user-context page.

7) Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls (CVE-ID: CVE-2011-4285)

The vulnerability allows a remote #AU# to manipulate or delete data.

The default configuration of Moodle 2.0.x before 2.0.2 has an incorrect setting of the moodle/course:delete capability, which allows remote authenticated users to delete arbitrary courses by leveraging the teacher role.

8) Cross-site scripting (CVE-ID: CVE-2011-4286)

Vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform XSS attacks.

The vulnerability is caused by an input validation error in the media-filter implementation in filter/mediaplugin/filter.php in Moodle 1.9.x before 1.9.11 and 2.0.x before 2.0.2 when processing vectors involving (1) Flash Video (aka FLV) files and (2) YouTube videos.
