Description
This security bulletin contains information about 2 vulnerabilities.
1) Path traversal (CVE-ID: CVE-2012-3521)
CWE-ID: CWE-22 - Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal')
CVSSv4: 6.9 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to gain access to sensitive information.
Multiple directory traversal vulnerabilities in the cssgen contrib module in GeSHi before 1.0.8.11 allow remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) in the (1) geshi-path or (2) geshi-lang-path parameter.
2) Cross-site scripting (CVE-ID: CVE-2012-3522)
CWE-ID: CWE-79 - Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting')
CVSSv4: 6.9 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
Vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform XSS attacks.
The vulnerability is caused by an input validation error in contrib/langwiz.php in GeSHi before 1.0.8.11. A remote attacker can trick the victim to follow a specially crafted link and execute arbitrary HTML and script code in victim's browser in security context of vulnerable website.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to steal potentially sensitive information, change appearance of the web page, perform phishing and drive-by-download attacks.
