Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2013-4233)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in Integer overflow in the abc_set_parts function in load_abc.cpp in libmodplug 0.8.8.4 and earlier. A remote attacker can use a crafted P header in an ABC file to trigger heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

2) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2013-4234)

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to read and manipulate data.

Multiple heap-based buffer overflows in the (1) abc_MIDI_drum and (2) abc_MIDI_gchord functions in load_abc.cpp in libmodplug 0.8.8.4 and earlier allow remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory corruption and crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted ABC.
