Security Bulletin

This security bulletin contains information about 2 vulnerabilities.

1) Cross-site scripting

EUVDB-ID: #VU40894

Risk: Low

CVSSv4.0: 1.2 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:H/UI:N/VC:N/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Clear]

CVE-ID: CVE-2014-8909

CWE-ID: CWE-79 - Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting')

Exploit availability: No

Description

Vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform Cross-site scripting attacks.

An input validation error exists in IBM WebSphere Portal 6.1.0.x through 6.1.0.6 CF27, 6.1.5.x through 6.1.5.3 CF27, 7.0.0.x through 7.0.0.2 CF29, 8.0.0.x before 8.0.0.1 CF15, and 8.5.0 before CF05. A remote authenticated attacker can trick the victim to follow a specially crafted link and execute arbitrary HTML and script code in victim's browser in security context of vulnerable website.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to steal potentially sensitive information, change appearance of the web page, perform phishing and drive-by-download attacks.

Mitigation

Cybersecurity Help is currently unaware of any official solution to address this vulnerability.

Vulnerable software versions

WebSphere Portal: 6.1.0.0 - 8.0.0.0
