Description
This security bulletin contains information about 11 vulnerabilities.
1) Integer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2006-6058)
CWE-ID: CWE-190 - Integer overflow
CVSSv4: 5.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:P/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The minix filesystem code in Linux kernel 2.6.x before 2.6.24, including 2.6.18, allows local users to cause a denial of service (hang) via a malformed minix file stream that triggers an infinite loop in the minix_bmap function. NOTE: this issue might be due to an integer overflow or signedness error.
2) Resource management errors (CVE-ID: CVE-2006-7229)
CWE-ID: CWE-399 - Resource Management Errors
CVSSv4: 8.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The skge driver 1.5 in Linux kernel 2.6.15 on Ubuntu does not properly use the spin_lock and spin_unlock functions, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (machine crash) via a flood of network traffic.
3) Improper input validation (CVE-ID: CVE-2007-4133)
CWE-ID: CWE-20 - Improper input validation
CVSSv4: 6.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The (1) hugetlb_vmtruncate_list and (2) hugetlb_vmtruncate functions in fs/hugetlbfs/inode.c in the Linux kernel before 2.6.19-rc4 perform certain prio_tree calculations using HPAGE_SIZE instead of PAGE_SIZE units, which allows local users to cause a denial of service (panic) via unspecified vectors.
4) Integer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2007-4997)
CWE-ID: CWE-190 - Integer overflow
CVSSv4: 8.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to integer overflow error. A remote non-authenticated attacker can perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
5) Resource management errors (CVE-ID: CVE-2007-5093)
CWE-ID: CWE-399 - Resource Management Errors
CVSSv4: 5.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:P/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The disconnect method in the Philips USB Webcam (pwc) driver in Linux kernel 2.6.x before 2.6.22.6 'relies on user space to close the device,' which allows user-assisted local attackers to cause a denial of service (USB subsystem hang and CPU consumption in khubd) by not closing the device after the disconnect is invoked. NOTE: this rarely crosses privilege boundaries, unless the attacker can convince the victim to unplug the affected device.
6) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2007-5500)
CWE-ID: CWE-20 - Improper input validation
CVSSv4: 6.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows local users to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input within the wait_task_stopped() function. A local user can crash the OS kernel.
7) Memory corruption (CVE-ID: CVE-2007-6063)
CWE-ID: CWE-119 - Memory corruption
CVSSv4: 8.5 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to execute arbitrary code.
Buffer overflow in the isdn_net_setcfg function in isdn_net.c in Linux kernel 2.6.23 allows local users to have an unknown impact via a crafted argument to the isdn_ioctl function.
8) Memory corruption (CVE-ID: CVE-2007-6151)
CWE-ID: CWE-119 - Memory corruption
CVSSv4: 8.5 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to execute arbitrary code.
The vulnerability exists due to memory corruption error within the isdn_ioctl() function in drivers/isdn/i4l/isdn_common.c. A local user can execute arbitrary code.
9) Information exposure (CVE-ID: CVE-2007-6206)
CWE-ID: CWE-200 - Exposure of sensitive information to an unauthorized actor
CVSSv4: 4.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to gain access to sensitive information.
The vulnerability exists due to information exposure error within the do_coredump() function in fs/exec.c. A local user can gain access to sensitive information.
10) Information exposure (CVE-ID: CVE-2007-6417)
CWE-ID: CWE-200 - Exposure of sensitive information to an unauthorized actor
CVSSv4: 8.5 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to execute arbitrary code.
The shmem_getpage function (mm/shmem.c) in Linux kernel 2.6.11 through 2.6.23 does not properly clear allocated memory in some rare circumstances related to tmpfs, which might allow local users to read sensitive kernel data or cause a denial of service (crash).
11) Improper privilege management (CVE-ID: CVE-2008-0001)
CWE-ID: CWE-269 - Improper Privilege Management
CVSSv4: 4.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:L/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to manipulate or delete data.
VFS in the Linux kernel before 2.6.22.16, and 2.6.23.x before 2.6.23.14, performs tests of access mode by using the flag variable instead of the acc_mode variable, which might allow local users to bypass intended permissions and remove directories.
