Description
This security bulletin contains information about 3 vulnerabilities.
1) Permissions, privileges, and access controls (CVE-ID: CVE-2012-2313)
CWE-ID: CWE-264 - Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls
CVSSv4: 2 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:P/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to perform service disruption.
The vulnerability exists due to security restrictions bypass error. A local user can perform service disruption.
2) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2012-2319)
CWE-ID: CWE-119 - Memory corruption
CVSSv4: 8.5 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The weakness exists due to buffer overflow in the driver within HFS plus filesystem. By using a specially crafted Hierarchical File System (HFS) filesystem, a local attacker can trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code with system privileges.
Successful exploitation of the vulnerability results in arbitrary code execution on the vulnerable system.
Note: the vulnerability was being actively exploited.
3) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2012-2375)
CWE-ID: CWE-20 - Improper input validation
CVSSv4: 6 [CVSS:4.0/AV:A/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The __nfs4_get_acl_uncached function in fs/nfs/nfs4proc.c in the NFSv4 implementation in the Linux kernel before 3.3.2 uses an incorrect length variable during a copy operation, which allows remote NFS servers to cause a denial of service (OOPS) by sending an excessive number of bitmap words in an FATTR4_ACL reply. NOTE: this vulnerability exists because of an incomplete fix for CVE-2011-4131.
