1) Infinite loop (CVE-ID: CVE-2015-8853)
CWE-ID: CWE-835 - Loop with Unreachable Exit Condition ('Infinite Loop')
CVSSv4: 7.1 [CVSS:4.0/AV:A/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows an adjacent attacker to cause DoS condition on the target system.
The weakness exists in the (1) S_reghop3, (2) S_reghop4, and (3) S_reghopmaybe3 functions in regexec.c due to infinite loop. An adjacent attacker can submit specially crafted utf-8 data, as demonstrated by "ax80", and cause the service to crash.
