Description
This security bulletin contains information about 3 vulnerabilities.
1) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2011-4077)
CWE-ID: CWE-119 - Memory corruption
CVSSv4: 8.6 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code.
Buffer overflow in the xfs_readlink function in fs/xfs/xfs_vnodeops.c in XFS in the Linux kernel 2.6, when CONFIG_XFS_DEBUG is disabled, allows local users to cause a denial of service (memory corruption and crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via an XFS image containing a symbolic link with a long pathname.
2) Reachable assertion (CVE-ID: CVE-2011-4132)
CWE-ID: CWE-617 - Reachable Assertion
CVSSv4: 6.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to a reachable assertion within the cleanup_journal_tail() function in the Journaling Block Device (JBD) functionality. A local user can perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
3) Stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2011-4330)
CWE-ID: CWE-121 - Stack-based buffer overflow
CVSSv4: 8.6 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the hfs_mac2asc function in fs/hfs/trans.c when processing an HFS image with a crafted len field. A remote unauthenticated attacker can trigger stack-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
