- Critical
Description
This security bulletin contains information about 2 vulnerabilities.
1) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-5846)
CWE-ID: CWE-125 - Out-of-bounds read
CVSSv4: 6.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local non-authenticated attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The gst_asf_demux_process_ext_stream_props function in gst/asfdemux/gstasfdemux.c in gst-plugins-ugly in GStreamer before 1.10.3 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (invalid memory read and crash) via vectors related to the number of languages in a video file.
2) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-5847)
CWE-ID: CWE-125 - Out-of-bounds read
CVSSv4: 8.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in the gst_asf_demux_process_ext_content_desc function in gst/asfdemux/gstasfdemux.c in gst-plugins-ugly. A remote attacker can create vectors involving extended content descriptors, trick the victim into opening it, trigger out-of-bounds read error and read contents of memory on the system.
