Description

This security bulletin contains information about 3 vulnerabilities.

1) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-9992)

CWE-ID: CWE-122 - Heap-based Buffer Overflow

CVSSv4: CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:A/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Green

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in Heap-based buffer overflow in the decode_dds1 function in libavcodec/dfa.c in FFmpeg before 2.8.12, 3.0.x before 3.0.8, 3.1.x before 3.1.8, 3.2.x before 3.2.5, and 3.3.x before 3.3.1. A remote attacker can use a crafted file. to trigger heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

2) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-9994)

CWE-ID: CWE-122 - Heap-based Buffer Overflow

CVSSv4: CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:A/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Green

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in libavcodec/webp.c in FFmpeg before 2.8.12, 3.0.x before 3.0.8, 3.1.x before 3.1.8, 3.2.x before 3.2.5, and 3.3.x before 3.3.1 does not ensure that pix_fmt is set, which. A remote attacker can use a crafted file to trigger heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

3) Stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-9990)

CWE-ID: CWE-121 - Stack-based buffer overflow

CVSSv4:

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the color_string_to_rgba function in libavcodec/xpmdec.c when processing a crafted file. A remote unauthenticated attacker can trigger stack-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
