Description
This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.
1) Resource exhaustion (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-18261)
CWE-ID: CWE-400 - Resource exhaustion
CVSSv4: 6.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local attacker to cause DoS condition on the target system.
The weakness exists in the arch_timer_reg_read_stable macro in the source code file arch/arm64/include/asm/arch_timer.h due to an infinite recursion memory error on systems with the arch timer erratum workaround implemented. A local attacker can access the system and write to a file under /sys/kernel/debug in a specific scenario, trigger excessive resource consumption and cause the service to crash.
