This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Improper input validation (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-8218)

The vulnerability allows an adjacent low-privileged attacker to cause DoS condition on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to an error when virtual machines access the Hyper-V Network Switch. An adjacent attacker can run a specially crafted application that causes a host machine to crash.


2) Privilege escalation (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-8219)

The vulnerability allows an adjacent attacker to gain elevated privileges on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to an error when Windows Hyper-V instruction emulation fails to properly enforce privilege levels. An adjacent attacker can gain elevated privileges on a target guest operating system.
