Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause DoS condition on the target system.

The weakness exists in coders/sixel.c in the ReadSIXELImage function, related to the sixel_decode function, due to heap-based buffer over-read. A remote attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted file, trigger memory corruption and cause the service to crash.

Mitigation

Update the affected package to version: 8:6.9.7.4+dfsg-11+deb9u5

A remote attacker can perform a denial of service attack.
