Description

This security bulletin contains information about 4 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Heap-based buffer over-read (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-5248)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause DoS condition on the target system.

The weakness exists in coders/sixel.c in the ReadSIXELImage function, related to the sixel_decode function, due to heap-based buffer over-read. A remote attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted file, trigger memory corruption and cause the service to crash.

2) Buffer over-read (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-11251)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to heap-based buffer over-read in ReadSUNImage in coders/sun.c, which allows attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash in SetGrayscaleImage in MagickCore/quantize.c) via a specially crafted SUN image file. A remote attacker can perform a denial of service attack.

3) Out-of-bounds write (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-12599)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists in ReadBMPImage and WriteBMPImage in coders/bmp.c due to out-of-bounds write. A remote unauthenticated attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted file and execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

4) Out-of-bounds write (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-12600)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists in ReadDIBImage and WriteDIBImage in coders/dib. due to out-of-bounds write. A remote unauthenticated attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted file and execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
