SB2018081424 - Multiple vulnerabilities in Microsoft Excel

Description

This security bulletin contains information about 3 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-8375)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing Microsoft Excel files. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted Excel document, trick the victim into opening it, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing Microsoft Excel files. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted Excel document, trick the victim into opening it, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

3) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-8382)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to boundary error when processing Excel files. A remote unauthenticated attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted Excel file and gain access to sensitive information stored into memory.
