Description
This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-4013)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The weakness exists the HTTP packet parsing functionality of LIVE555 RTSP Server library that analyzes HTTP headers for RTSP tunneling over HTTP due to stack-based buffer overflow when handling malicious input. A remote attacker can supply a speciallycrafted packet containing multiple “Accept:” or “x-sessioncookie” strings, trigger memory corruption in the function “lookForHeader and execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges.
Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may result in system compromise.
2) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-6256)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to a call to an incorrect virtual function pointer in the readSocket function in GroupsockHelper.cpp. A remote attacker can cause an RTSPServer crash in handleHTTPCmd_TunnelingPOST, when RTSP-over-HTTP tunneling is supported, via x-sessioncookie HTTP headers in a GET request and a POST request within the same TCP session.
