Description

This security bulletin contains information about 8 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Improper input validation (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-0886)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to an error when validation authentication requests in Credential Security Support Provider protocol (CredSSP). A remote unauthenticated attacker with ability to perform a Man-in-the-Middle (MitM) attack can execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

2) Information disclosure (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-1000852)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to an error in channels/drdynvc/client/drdynvc_main.c, drdynvc_process_capability_request. A remote attacker can connect the rdp server with echo option and gain unauthorized access to sensitive information on the system.

3) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-8784)

The vulnerability allows a remote authenticated attacker to cause DoS condition or execute arbitrary code.

The vulnerability exists due to improper handling of certain stream encodings by the zgfx_decompress_segment() function, as defined in the zgfx.c source code file. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted request that submits malicious input, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow condition that the attacker can use to cause a DoS condition or execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may result in system compromise.

4) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-8785)

The vulnerability allows a remote authenticated attacker to cause DoS condition or execute arbitrary code.

The vulnerability exists due to improper handling of certain stream encodings by the zgfx_decompress() function. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted request that submits malicious input, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow condition that the attacker can use to cause a DoS condition or execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may result in system compromise.

5) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-8786)

The vulnerability allows a remote authenticated attacker to cause DoS condition or execute arbitrary code.

The vulnerability exists due to improper handling of bitmaps by the update_read_bitmap_update() function, as defined in the update.c source code file. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted request that submits malicious input, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow condition that the attacker can use to cause a DoS condition or execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may result in system compromise.

6) Integer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-8787)

The vulnerability allows a remote authenticated attacker to cause DoS condition or execute arbitrary code.

The vulnerability exists due to integer overflow condition that exists in the gdi_Bitmap_Decompress() function, as defined in the graphics.c source code file. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted request that submits malicious input, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow condition that the attacker can use to cause a DoS condition or execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may result in system compromise.

7) Out-of-bounds write (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-8788)

The vulnerability allows a remote authenticated attacker to cause DoS condition or execute arbitrary code.

The vulnerability exists due to out-of-bounds write condition in the nsc_rle_decode() function, as defined in the nsc.c source code file. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted request that submits malicious input, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow condition that the attacker can use to cause a DoS condition or execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may result in system compromise.

8) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-8789)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause DoS condition.

The vulnerability exists due to several out-of-bound read conditions that exist in the NTLM authentication module. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted request that submits malicious input, trigger several out-of-bounds read conditions that the attacker can use to cause a DoS condition.
