Description

This security bulletin contains information about 4 vulnerabilities.

1) Race condition (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-11190)

CWE-ID: CWE-362 - Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition')

CVSSv4: 5.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:P/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a local authenticated user to gain access to sensitive information.

The Linux kernel before 4.8 allows local users to bypass ASLR on setuid programs (such as /bin/su) because install_exec_creds() is called too late in load_elf_binary() in fs/binfmt_elf.c, and thus the ptrace_may_access() check has a race condition when reading /proc/pid/stat.

2) Race condition (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-11191)

CWE-ID: CWE-362 - Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition')

CVSSv4: 0 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a local user to escalate privileges on the system.

The vulnerability exist due to a race condition within the load_aout_binary() function in fs/binfmt_aout.c when reading the "/proc/pid/stat" file if CONFIG_IA32_AOUT is enabled and ia32_aout is loaded. A local user can create a specially crafted program, run it on the affected system and bypass ASLR on setuid programs.

3) NULL pointer dereference (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-11810)

CWE-ID: CWE-476 - NULL Pointer Dereference

CVSSv4: 6.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a local user to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to a NULL pointer dereference error when megasas_create_frame_pool() fails in megasas_alloc_cmds() in drivers/scsi/megaraid/megaraid_sas_base.c. A local user can perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

4) Use-after-free (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-11815)

CWE-ID: CWE-416 - Use After Free

CVSSv4: 9.3 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise vulnerable system.

The vulnerability exists due to a race condition that leads to use-after-free error when TCP packets in rds_tcp_kill_sock() function in net/rds/tcp.c. A remote unauthenticated attacker can specially crafted TCP packets to the affected system, trigger use-after-free error and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may allow an attacker to compromise vulnerable system.
