Security Advisory

1) SQL injection

Severity: Low

CVSSv3: 6.5 [CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H/E:U/RL:O/RC:C] [PCI]

CVE-ID: CVE-2019-11768

CWE-ID: CWE-89 - Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an SQL Command ('SQL Injection')

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary SQL queries in database.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient sanitization of user-supplied data within the Designer feature when processing data passed via the "db" HTTP POST parameter to "db_designer.php" script. A remote authenticated attacker can send a specially crafted request to the affected application and execute arbitrary SQL commands within the application database.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to read, delete, modify data in database and gain complete control over the affected application.

Mitigation

Update the affected packages.

Vulnerable software versions

2) Cross-site request forgery

Severity: Medium

CVSSv3: 5.7 [CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:L/E:P/RL:O/RC:C] [PCI]

CVE-ID: CVE-2019-12616

CWE-ID: CWE-352 - Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF)

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform cross-site request forgery attacks.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of the HTTP request origin in "tbl_sql.php" script. A remote attacker can trick the victim to visit a specially crafted web page and perform arbitrary actions on behalf of the victim on the vulnerable website, such as execute arbitrary INSERT or DELETE statements.

PoC:

http://[host]/tbl_sql.php?sql_query=INSERT+INTO+%60pma__bookmark%60+(%60id%60%2C+%60dbase%60%2C+%60user%60%2C+%60label%60%2C+%60query%60)+VALUES+(DAYOFWEEK(%27%27)%2C+%27%27%2C+%27%27%2C+%27%27%2C+%27%27)&show_query=1&db=phpmyadmin&table=pma__bookmark

Mitigation

Update the affected packages.
