This security bulletin contains one medium risk vulnerability.

1) Resource exhaustion

EUVDB-ID: #VU23427

Risk: Medium

CVSSv3.1: 6.7 [CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H/E:P/RL:O/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2019-8460

CWE-ID: CWE-400 - Resource exhaustion

Exploit availability: Yes

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to an error when processing TCP SACK packets. A remote attacker can force the system to create long chains of TCP SACK holes that causes very expensive calls to tcp_sack_option() for every incoming SACK packet.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may result in a denial of service (DoS) attack.

Mitigation

Install updates from vendor's website.

Vulnerable software versions

OpenBSD: 6.0 - 6.5
