This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Double Free (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-18594)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing failed SSH connections in nse_libssh2.cc script in nmap. A remote attacker can trigger a double free error and perform a denial of service attack against the port scanner during scan process.


2) Stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-15173)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause DoS condition on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to stack-based buffer overflow when the -sV option is used. A remote unauthenticated attacker can supply a specially crafted TCP-based service, trigger memory corruption and cause the service to crash.
