Description
This security bulletin contains information about 3 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-1446)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary condition when processing untrusted data. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted Excel file, trick the victim into opening it, trigger out-of-bounds read error and read contents of memory on the system.
2) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-1448)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input when the software fails to properly handle objects in memory in Microsoft Excel software. Successful exploitation of the vulnerability allows remote code execution but requires that a user open a specially crafted file with an affected version of Microsoft Excel.
3) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-1402)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to sensitive information on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when Microsoft Office improperly handles objects in memory. A remote attacker can use a specially crafted document to trigger memory corruption and obtain sensitive information on the target system.
