Security Bulletin

This security bulletin contains information about 4 vulnerabilities.

1) Information disclosure

EUVDB-ID: #VU23653

Risk: Medium

CVSSv3.1: 6.7 [CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:N/A:N/E:U/RL:O/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2019-17336

CWE-ID: CWE-200 - Information exposure

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to the Data access layer component exposes credentials for shared data sources. A remote authenticated attacker can gain access to information that can lead to obtaining credentials used to access Spotfire data sources.

To successful exploitation of this vulnerability the attacker would need privileges to save a Spotfire file to the library, and only applies in a situation where NTLM credentials, or a credentials profile is in use.

Mitigation

Install updates from vendor's website.

Vulnerable software versions

TIBCO Spotfire Server: 7.0.0 - 10.6.0

TIBCO Spotfire for AWS: 10.6.0

Yes. This vulnerability can be exploited by a remote authenticated user via the Internet.

Is there known malware, which exploits this vulnerability?

No. We are not aware of malware exploiting this vulnerability.

2) Information disclosure

EUVDB-ID: #VU23656

Risk: Medium

CVSSv3.1: 4.6 [CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N/E:U/RL:O/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2019-17335

CWE-ID: CWE-200 - Information exposure

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to the Data access layer component exposes user-specific cached data. A remote authenticated attacker with privileges to save a Spotfire file to the library can gain unauthorized access to data cached from a data source, or a portion of a data source.

Mitigation

Install updates from vendor's website.

Vulnerable software versions

TIBCO Spotfire for AWS: 10.6.0

3) Input validation error

EUVDB-ID: #VU23655

Risk: Medium

CVSSv3.1: 6.5 [CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H/E:U/RL:O/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2019-17334

CWE-ID: CWE-20 - Improper input validation

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input in the Visualizations component when processing DXP files. A remote attacker can trick a victim to store the DXP files to the Spotfire library and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Mitigation

Install updates from vendor's website.

CVE-ID: CVE-2019-17337

CWE-ID: CWE-79 - Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting')

Exploit availability: No

Description

The disclosed vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient sanitization of user-supplied data in the Spotfire library component. A remote attacker can trick the victim to follow a specially crafted link and execute arbitrary HTML and script code in user's browser in context of vulnerable website.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to steal potentially sensitive information, change appearance of the web page, perform phishing and drive-by-download attacks.
