The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.
The vulnerability exists due to excessive data output within the Apache Kafka Connect REST API tasks endpoint. A remote authenticated user can issue a request to the same Connect cluster to obtain the connector's task configurations and the response will contain the plaintext secret.Mitigation
