Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) SQL injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-6960)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary SQL queries in database.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient sanitization of user-supplied data. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted request to the affected application, execute arbitrary SQL commands within the application database and gain access to the web user interface with administrator-level privileges.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to read, delete, modify data in database and gain complete control over the affected application.

This vulnerability affects the following versions of MAXPRO VMS and NVR:

MAXPRO VMS:

  • HNMSWVMS prior to Version VMS560 Build 595 T2-Patch
  • HNMSWVMSLT prior to Version VMS560 Build 595 T2-Patch

MAXPRO NVR:

  • MAXPRO NVR XE prior to Version NVR 5.6 Build 595 T2-Patch
  • MAXPRO NVR SE prior to Version NVR 5.6 Build 595 T2-Patch
  • MAXPRO NVR PE prior to Version NVR 5.6 Build 595 T2-Patch
  • MPNVRSWXX prior to Version NVR 5.6 Build 595 T2-Patch

2) Deserialization of Untrusted Data (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-6959)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to insecure input validation when processing serialized data. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
