Description

This security bulletin contains information about 3 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-20021)

The vulnerability allows an attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to a heap-based buffer over-read within the canUnpack() function in p_mach.cpp. An attacker can create a specially crafted Mach-O file, trick the victim into opening it, trigger out-of-bounds read error and read contents of memory on the system.

2) Double Free (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-11243)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the PackLinuxElf64::unpack(0 function in p_lx_elf.cpp. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted file, pass it to the application, trigger double free error and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

3) Incorrect calculation (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-20051)

The vulnerability allows an attacker to perform denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to incorrect calculation due to a floating point exception within the PackLinuxElf::elf_hash() function in p_lx_elf.cpp. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted file, pass it to the application, trigger a floating-point exception and crash the affected application.
