Security Bulletin

This security bulletin contains information about 4 vulnerabilities.

1) Stored cross-site scripting

EUVDB-ID: #VU25405

Risk: Low

CVSSv3.1: 6.6 [CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N/E:U/RL:U/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2020-9025

CWE-ID: CWE-79 - Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting')

Exploit availability: No

Description

The disclosed vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient sanitization of user-supplied data in all parameters of the Start Data Viewer feature of the "/cgi-bin/loaddata.py" script. A remote attacker can permanently inject and execute arbitrary HTML and script code in user's browser in context of vulnerable website.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to steal potentially sensitive information, change appearance of the web page, perform phishing and drive-by-download attacks.

This vulnerability affects the following parameters:

  • htmlBluetoothReaderId
  • htmlDataOutputFile
  • htmlMacAddressResendTimeSeconds
  • htmlSelectEnableUdpOutput
  • htmlUdpOutputHost
  • htmlUdpOutputPort
  • htmlSelectRestartOnCommFailure
  • htmlSelectAnonymizeMacAddresses
  • htmlWifiChannelScan
  • htmlSelectEnableHeartbeatMessage
  • htmlSelectEnableBluetoothCapture
  • htmlSelectEnableWifiCapture
  • htmlAuthenticate
  • htmlLogin
  • htmlPassword
  • htmlLoggedIn

Q & A

Can this vulnerability be exploited remotely?

Yes. This vulnerability can be exploited by a remote non-authenticated attacker via the Internet.

Is there known malware, which exploits this vulnerability?

No. We are not aware of malware exploiting this vulnerability.

2) Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls

EUVDB-ID: #VU25404

Risk: High

CVSSv3.1: 9 [CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H/E:U/RL:U/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2020-9024

CWE-ID: CWE-264 - Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to escalate privileges on the system.

The vulnerability exists due to the affected devices have world-writable permissions for the "/root/cleardata.pl " (executed as root by crond) and "/root/loadperl.sh" (executed as root at boot time) scripts. A remote attacker can gain elevated privileges on the target system.

Mitigation

Cybersecurity Help is currently unaware of any official solution to address this vulnerability.

3) Improper Authentication

EUVDB-ID: #VU25403

Risk: High

CVSSv3.1: 9 [CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H/E:U/RL:U/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2020-9023

CWE-ID: CWE-287 - Improper Authentication

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass authentication process.

The vulnerability exists due to the affected devices have two users that are not documented and are configured with weak passwords (User bluetooth, password bluetooth; User eclipse, password eclipse). Also, bluetooth is the root password. A remote attacker can bypass authentication process and gain unauthorized access to the application.

Mitigation

Cybersecurity Help is currently unaware of any official solution to address this vulnerability.
