Description

This security bulletin contains information about 5 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-6821)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary condition when using WebGL copyTexSubImage method. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted web page, trick the victim into opening it, trigger out-of-bounds read error and read contents of uninitialized memory on the system.

2) Out-of-bounds write (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-6822)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary condition in GMPDecodeData when processing images larger than 4Gb on 32-bit builds. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted image, trick the victim into opening it, trigger out-of-bounds write and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

3) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-6825)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing HTML content. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted website, trick the victim into opening it, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

4) Spoofing attack (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-6827)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform spoofing attack.

The vulnerability exists due to incorrect processing of intent://-schemed URL. A remote attacker can trick Firefox for Android into displaying the incorrect URI.

Note: This issue only affects Firefox for Android. Other operating systems are unaffected.

5) Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-6828)

A malicious Android application could craft an Intent that would have been processed by Firefox for Android and potentially result in a file overwrite in the user's profile directory. One exploitation vector for this would be to supply a user.js file providing arbitrary malicious preference values. Control of arbitrary preferences can lead to sufficient compromise such that it is generally equivalent to arbitrary code execution.

Note: This issue only affects Firefox for Android. Other operating systems are unaffected.
