Description
This security bulletin contains information about 5 vulnerabilities.
1) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-0067)
CWE-ID: CWE-125 - Out-of-bounds read
CVSSv4: 6.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:H/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.
The vulnerability exists due to a missing bounds check when processing files. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted file, trick the victim into opening it, trigger out-of-bounds read error and read contents of memory on the system.
2) Information disclosure (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-0543)
CWE-ID: CWE-200 - Exposure of sensitive information to an unauthorized actor
CVSSv4: 6.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to gain access to potentially sensitive information.
The vulnerability exists due to incomplete cleanup from specific special register read operations in some Intel(R) Processors. A local user can gain unauthorized access to sensitive information on the system.
3) Race condition (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-12114)
CWE-ID: CWE-362 - Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition')
CVSSv4: 6.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to perform a denial of service attack.
The vulnerability exists due to a race condition between threads updating mountpoint reference counter. A local user can exploit the race and crash the system.
4) Use-after-free (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-12464)
CWE-ID: CWE-416 - Use After Free
CVSSv4: 8.4 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:H/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to escalate privileges on the system.
The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free error within the usb_sg_cancel() function in drivers/usb/core/message.c in the Linux kernel. A local user can trigger a use-after-free error during file transfer to USB driver and execute arbitrary code on the system with elevated privileges.
5) Out-of-bounds write (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-12659)
CWE-ID: CWE-787 - Out-of-bounds write
CVSSv4: 8.5 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to compromise vulnerable system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing untrusted input in "xdp_umem_reg" in "net/xdp/xdp_umem.c" file. A local user can trigger out-of-bounds write and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
