Security Bulletin

This security bulletin contains information about 3 vulnerabilities.

1) Format string error

EUVDB-ID: #VU34070

Risk: Low

CVSSv3.1: 5.5 [CVSS:3.1/AV:A/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:L/E:U/RL:O/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2020-15634

CWE-ID: CWE-134 - Use of Externally-Controlled Format String

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a format string error when handling the string table file uploads. A remote attacker on the local network can supply a specially crafted input that contains format string specifiers and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

Mitigation

Install updates from vendor's website.

Vulnerable software versions

R6700: before 1.0.4.98

Q & A

Can this vulnerability be exploited remotely?

Yes. This vulnerability can be exploited by a remote non-authenticated attacker via the local network (LAN).

How the attacker can exploit this vulnerability?

The attacker would have to send a specially crafted request to the affected device in order to exploit this vulnerability.

Is there known malware, which exploits this vulnerability?

No. We are not aware of malware exploiting this vulnerability.

2) Stack-based buffer overflow

EUVDB-ID: #VU34071

Risk: Medium

CVSSv3.1: 7.7 [CVSS:3.1/AV:A/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H/E:U/RL:O/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2020-15635

CWE-ID: CWE-121 - Stack-based buffer overflow

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the "acsd" service. A remote attacker on the local network can trigger stack-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

Mitigation

Install updates from vendor's website.

3) Stack-based buffer overflow

EUVDB-ID: #VU34072

Risk: High

CVSSv3.1: 7.1 [CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H/E:U/RL:O/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2020-15636

CWE-ID: CWE-121 - Stack-based buffer overflow

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the "check_ra" service. A remote unauthenticated attacker can use a specially crafted "raePolicyVersion" in a "RAE_Policy.json" file, trigger stack-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

Mitigation

Install updates from vendor's website.
