Description
This security bulletin contains information about 6 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-16207)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing PM3 files. A remote attacker can trick a victim to open a specially crafted project file, trigger heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
2) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-16211)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary condition when processing PM3 files. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted project file, trick the victim into opening it, trigger out-of-bounds read error and read contents of memory on the system.
3) Out-of-bounds write (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-16213)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise vulnerable system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing PM3 files. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted project file, trick the victim into opening it using the affected software, trigger out-of-bounds write and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
4) Type Confusion (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-16229)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a type confusion error when processing PM3 files. A remote attacker can trick a victim to open a specially crafted project file, trigger a type confusion error and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
5) Stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-16215)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing specially crafted project files in BwPFile.exe. A remote unauthenticated attacker can trigger stack-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
6) Double Free (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-16217)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing specially crafted PM3 files. A remote attacker can trigger double free error and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
