Description
This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-0922)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within Microsoft COM for Windows. A remote attacker can trick a victim to open a specially crafted file or visit a malicious webpage, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
2) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-1507)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to escalate privileges on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in Microsoft COM for Windows. A remote attacker can trick a victim to open a specially crafted file, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system with elevated privileges.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
