Description

This security bulletin contains information about 3 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Use of a broken or risky cryptographic algorithm (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-12872)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to decrypt sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to yaws_config.erl in Yaws loads obsolete TLS ciphers if running on an Erlang/OTP virtual machine with a version less than 21.0. A remote attacker can perform Sweet32 attack.


2) XML External Entity injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-24379)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied XML input within WebDAV implementation in Yaws web server A remote attacker can pass a specially crafted XML code to the affected application and view contents of arbitrary files on the system or initiate requests to external systems.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may allow an attacker to view contents of arbitrary file on the server or perform network scanning of internal and external infrastructure.


3) OS Command Injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-24916)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary shell commands on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation within CGI implementation in Yaws web server. A remote unauthenticated attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application and execute arbitrary OS commands on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
