Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Cleartext storage of sensitive information (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-15947)

The vulnerability allows a local user to gain access to sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to bitcoin-qt stores wallet.dat data unencrypted in memory. Upon a crash, it may dump a core file. If a user were to mishandle a core file, an attacker can reconstruct the user's wallet.dat file, including their private keys, via a grep "6231 0500" command.


2) Resource management error (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-14198)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to improper management of internal resources with the applicatoin. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
