Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-3544)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in the Cisco Discovery Protocol implementation. A remote attacker on the local network can send a malicious Cisco Discovery Protocol packet, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.


2) Resource exhaustion (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-3543)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to application does not properly control consumption of internal resources. A remote attacker on the local network can send certain Cisco Discovery Protocol packets, trigger resource exhaustion and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
