Description

This security bulletin contains information about 7 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-12861)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input within the epsonds component in SANE Backends. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted input to the application and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

2) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-12862)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary condition within epsonds component in SANE backends . A remote attacker can trigger out-of-bounds read error and read contents of memory on the system.

3) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-12863)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary condition within epsonds component in SANE Backends. A remote attacker can  trigger out-of-bounds read error and read contents of memory on the system.

4) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-12864)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input within the epsonds component in SANE Backends. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted input to the application and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

5) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-12865)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the epsonds component in SANE backends. A remote attacker can trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

6) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-12866)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input within the epsonds component in SANE Backends. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted input to the application and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

7) Resource management error (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-12867)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to improper memory management issues within epson2 component. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
