Security Bulletin

This security bulletin contains information about 2 vulnerabilities.

1) Buffer overflow

EUVDB-ID: #VU48481

Risk: High

CVSSv3.1: 8.1 [CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H/E:U/RL:U/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2017-18926

CWE-ID: CWE-119 - Memory corruption

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the raptor_xml_writer_start_element_common() function in raptor_xml_writer.c. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted file, trick the victim into opening it, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

Mitigation

Cybersecurity Help is currently unaware of any official solution to address this vulnerability.

2) Out-of-bounds read

EUVDB-ID: #VU48482

Risk: Medium

CVSSv3.1: 6.2 [CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N/E:P/RL:U/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2020-25713

CWE-ID: CWE-125 - Out-of-bounds read

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary condition within the raptor_xml_writer_start_element_common() function in raptor_xml_writer.c. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted PDF file, trick the victim into opening it, trigger an out-of-bounds read error and read contents of memory on the system.

Mitigation

Cybersecurity Help is currently unaware of any official solution to address this vulnerability.
